I believe the 2nd Congressional district represents the best of New Jersey. We have a rich history and a bright future. From the tea burning in Greenwich to the revitalization of Atlantic City we have undergone some incredible changes over the 200 plus years.

Our district plays an important role in the economy of New Jersey and also the security for the country. Our tourism industry, our agricultural and fishing industry and our casino industry all contribute to the state’s economic growth.

Our district also plays a key role in homeland security by hosting the US Coast Guard, the FAA Technical Center, the Federal Air Marshal Training Center, the 177th Jersey Devils fighter wing and TSA research labs.

But it is you, the people of the 2nd congressional district who make South Jersey home for all of us. As small business owners, working men and women, educators, health care professionals, coaches, volunteers, parents…you are the fabric that makes South Jersey such a great place to work and live.

A great example of how special the people of south Jersey are was reflected in the many volunteers who traveled to and/or donated to the hurricane relief efforts in the gulf.

The men and women of our armed services enable us to enjoy the peace at home while they are away fighting the war on terror. I have had the privilege of meeting many of these service people and their families whether it is here at home or overseas. Their dedication to defending our country is admirable. Unfortunately, we have lost 5 young men connected to the district but they and their families will not be forgotten for their ultimate sacrifice.
